Privacy

Last updated: 21 August 2026

SnobFop is run by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], in Sydney, Australia. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is short because we collect very little.

What we collect

Your email address, when you make an account. That is the only piece of personal information we ask for. No name, no date of birth, no phone number.

Your taste data. The films, television and books you adore, dismiss, mark as seen or rate. The categories you choose. Any titles you name as Taste Pillars. This is the entire point of the product: without it we cannot recommend anything.

Basic usage data. Which artefacts have been shown to you, so we do not show you the same thing every day.

We do not collect your location beyond the country your browser reports, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not use advertising cookies.

Why we collect it

To generate your recommendations, and for nothing else. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. There are no advertisers.

Who else touches it

Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your email and taste data live there. Supabase is a US company; data is stored in Sydney, Australia.

Anthropic processes some requests. Editorial notes about individual titles are generated in advance and involve no personal data. If you use Taste Roast, your taste profile is sent to Anthropic's API to generate the response. Anthropic does not train models on data sent through their API.

TMDb, Open Library and Google Books supply cover images and metadata. We request information about titles, not about you.

[EMAIL PROVIDER] sends account emails such as sign-in links.

Cookies

We use one kind: the cookie that keeps you signed in. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers. There is nothing to consent to, which is why you will not find a banner.

We store some preferences in your browser's local storage, such as your chosen categories. That stays on your device.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. Delete your account and we delete your email, your shelf and your taste data within 30 days.

One exception: items you have binned are kept as a record that you binned them, so we do not recommend them to you again. That record contains an artefact reference and nothing identifying beyond your account.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of everything we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email concierge@snobfop.com and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you these rights explicitly, plus the right to object to processing and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Our lawful basis for processing is performance of a contract: we cannot run the service without your taste data.

If you are in Australia, the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles apply. Complaints can go to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Children

SnobFop is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to the database is restricted to the operator of the service. We are a small operation and we will tell you promptly if something goes wrong.

Changes

If we change this page in a way that materially affects you, we will email you. Otherwise the date at the top will change.
